WEST SIDE STORY COLLECTOR'S BOOK

In 2009 West Side Story returned to Broadway to huge fanfare. This beloved story with its generations of fans was bound to receive heavy scrutiny. It not only has to live up to the expectations any high quality Broadway show needs to survive but endless comparisons to past performances as well as a movie that resonates in the hearts of many. It accomplished this and far exceeded expectations.

BoyBurnsBarn was responsible for encapsulating the stage performance in a collector's book. While keeping the heritage of West Side Story in mind, the main goal was to create something that was both engaging and informative but let the stage performance come to life in the pages of the book.

The end result features a dust cover that opens up to reveal the iconic logo on one side and a behind the scenes look at the creation of the current show on the other side. Original costume and set sketches as well as interviews from the set designers gives a reader unprecedented access to what brings a show to life. The book itself features the performers and the stage in full bleed imagery assembled into the themes of the show. As you flip through the book you move one memorable scene to another with little to no interference from being over designed. This book bridges the past to the present with simple design treatments that allow a fan to be a fan without any distractions.
