THE EMMABODA FESTIVAL BATHROOM POSTER

1 / 7

Rarely does a roll of toilet paper plus out house equal anything that we do. Here's the story:

BoyBurnsBarn was invited to submit original art to be displayed in a gallery space in Sweden. The gallery was the Emmaboda Music Festival. The space was a row of portable toilets. We weren't sure if we should be honored or offended but allow us to give you an excerpt from the brief sent to us as an explanation:

"Every festival has toilets. There’s only one problem though, they are all filthy and repulsive. Together, we are going to change that perception. Paying a visit to this year’s toilets will be a treat and an unforgettable experience. At this year’s Emmaboda Festival, toilets will have a charm and personality, and most importantly, an identity. That’s where you come in my dear friend. We want you, earth’s most interesting and talented artist, to do what you are best at; to create. We want to put together a group of artists that will produce state of the art work. As a thank you from The Caravan Project the chosen artworks will be presented on the web site and also be part of an exhibition in Stockholm about the Emmaboda campaign so that means plenty of exposure."

In the end it was an honor to be chosen as a contributor to a travelling exhibition seen throughout Sweden in the Summer of 2006.
